Vicki Niswander
is first and foremost the mom of three fantastic children, who are all now adults.  Jeff, is a recent graduate in mechanical engineering from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb and is employed at Upstaging, Inc.in Sycamore, IL. Kathy, is a 2010 graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, IN, and Annie, age 27, who has Down Syndrome, volunteers in two local elementary schools, at the humane society, the Champaign County Nursing Home and is a student at Parkland College in Champaign. Vicki's husband, Mark, works for the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in Research Safety.

Vicki is currently the Executive Director of the Illinois Association of Microboards and Cooperatives (IAMC), having worked for Project CHOICES, an LRE project in Illinois, and directed the Parent and Educator Partnership, another state grant in Illinois. Current activities, in addition to Disability Beat,include serving as a member of the Board of Directors for Community Choices, Inc. on the Board of Directors for the Arc of Illinois, and on the Board of Education in Mahomet-Seymour CUSD#3 in Mahomet, IL.

Vicki frequently presents at workshops and conferences to promote self-determination and self-directed services, community inclusion and disability in the media. For more information contact Vicki by email.
