Vicki Niswander is first and foremost the mom of three fantastic children, who are all now adults.   Jeff, is employed as a design engineer for AMS Performance in West Chicago.  Kathy, who lives in Grayslake, IL, works for a PetSmart boarding facility and volunteers for Save-a Pet Animal Shelter.  Annie, who has Down Syndrome, works as an assistant teacher for the after school program at First School, a private day care in Mahomet, IL. Vicki’s husband, Mark, works for the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in Research Safety

Vicki is currently the Executive Director of the Illinois Association of Microboards and Cooperatives, having worked for  Project CHOICES, an LRE project in Illinois, and directed the  Parent and Educator Partnership, another state grant in Illinois. Current activities, in addition to Disability Beat, include serving on the board of the Arc of Illinois, Board Chair of Prairie Air, Inc., WEFT Community Radio, and as a member of the Board of Education in  Mahomet-Seymour CUSD#3 in Mahomet, IL.

 

WEFT 90.1 FM is a non-profit, community owned, volunteer operated radio station located in Champaign, Illinois.  It's mission is to be an accessible, responsible, and responsive radio alternative serving the communities of East-Central Illinois.  WEFT is now web-casting as well.  To listen, go to  www.weft.org and click on the listen online icon.
